Air Powered Car
Here’s an interesting alternative fuel vehicle. Pressurized air.
The inventor of the engine powering this engine, Angelo Dipletro, has done an amazing job at turning one of my son’s Air Hog pressurized air toy cars into a full size automobile. This sounds like a fantastic vehicle for commuting through downtown.
This raises a few questions for me.
- Compressed air when released becomes cold. Compressed air pushed through this engine will generate heat. How will it manage this?
- What if one of the pressurized air canisters break in an accident?
- What if you run out of air? I wonder how long it would take a bike pump to fill it back up again (if it could create the pressure required).
- Will it have a radio? Where will it get it’s electricity from?
Update - more information
Just to give an update, I have Angelo’s name wrong above. His full name is Angelo Di Pietro, not Angelo Dipletro.
Hopefully the collection of videos above were helpful. Wikipedia also has some useful information: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angelo_Di_Pietro_(inventor)
You can also find more info about Angelo Di Pietro at Engine Air.
If you have any more information you would like to see posted here, please leave a comment.
