Broke My New Bike
Riding my new Davinci Melbourne across the Burrard Street bridge early this morning in the dark I switched gears. I could feel the chain slip and gave it another revolution before thinking maybe the chain came off. I did what I normally do. Move the front derailler in and keep pedalling and hopefully the chain would catch and I could keep going. Looking down I couldn’t see anything in the dark. Three more revolutions and then resistance. *Crap*
Keep on reading to see the results.

As you can see, the chain isn’t normally supposed to be wrapped around the crank several times.

The after coasting to work I took the rear wheel off and found the chain had folded and wedged itself behind the crank and the chainrings. After some carefuly prying and seeing the paint peel off my crank I was able to get the chain off. I’m guessing it is slightly bent but haven’t had a chance to closely inspect it yet.
Kicking myself now for being a moron. But luckily not too much damage was done.
