It’s been close to a year of riding on my 2008 Davinci Melbourne hybrid road bike. I’ve been commuting downtown on it daily through sun, rain, sleet and snow. It is also my first experience with disc brakes.
Keep watching, I’ll post a full review of this bike very soon! I’ll give you a hint of what my review will be like though. I love the bike!
Looks like the construction along the water North West of Science World has moved back from the water and has opened up the bike path again. I was able to take the kids for a bike ride from Kits Beach to the Stanley Park water park without having to bike on any road with cars. It was fantastic!
If you have kids, or anyone timid about riding with traffic, this is a fantastic bike ride.
Further to my previous posting Firefox The Best Browser In The World, FireFox 3 is now available for download. The attempt to obtain a Guiness World Record for the most downloads is now being reviewed by Guiness Book of World Records. There were over 8 million downloads within 24 hours. And today the number of downloads is at 22,433,957!
If you haven’t downloaded it yet, you can get it by clicking the graphic below:
To the lady driving the Grey Honda CRV on Wednesday June 25th 6:20pm heading West on Cornwall in Vancouver, BC. I’m guessing you were late for a wedding at Jericho beach?
Was it worth the ten seconds you saved by squeezing by those two bicyclists at 60kph? Did you hear them scream in shock and fear as you raced within a foot of their handlebars? Or were you too busy talking on the cell phone? Or maybe you were listening to the radio? Or maybe you were adjusting your makeup?
Please take a moment to think about how dangerous it is to be pushing your metal monster down the road when there are human beings on the road. All it would have taken was one of the cyclists to swerve around a pothole and they would have been mushed into your bumper. Is ten seconds of your life worth someone’s entire life?
A couple of other comments. If you are driving a company vehicle, like you were, don’t you think you should be driving more responsibly? The way you drive will give people an impression about your company. Do you want the name “Health In Sight” associated with disregard for human safety and a healthy form of transportation? You have also kindly provided me with some contact information:
Company Name: Health In Sight
Company Website: www.healthinsight.ca
Company Phone Number: 604.725.2522
And yes, I guessed you went to a wedding because I caught up with your Honda CRV in the parking lot outside the wedding.
I’m a techno geek and I always getting non-technical people asking me for advice. So you probably received this link because you asked me what is Firefox?
I’ll just say this, it is the best browser in the world.
You can download and install this software for free, it is easier to use and more secure than Internet Explorer. If you want to get fancy, there are all sorts of extra things you can add to Firefox (also for free) to make it do more for you. Firefox isn’t something completely new, there has been over 566 million downloads of this software already.
Now there is a new version just around the corner, Firefox 3. I’ve been playing around with a pre-release copy of it for a while now and think it is fantastic. One feature that I think new users will appreciate is the ability to just type the name of the website you want to go to in the address bar. If you are trying to go to http://www.google.com all you need to type is google and Firefox will send you to the right web page.
Now that Firefox 3 is going to be officially released, you can take part of setting a world record. They are trying to have the most downloads within 24 hours of release. You can download the software anytime, but it would be very cool if you participated in this event by clicking on the following link:
If you missed the download day, you can still download Firefox anytime you want. Go to the following link:
We purchased a Kidarooz Bike trailer for our two boys over a year ago from Costco for $159 USD.
It has been a fantastic trailer and definitely best bang for the buck. Unfortunately it doesn’t work well with my Davinci Melbourne’s disc brakes. There isn’t enough room to clamp the trailer onto the bike. I’ve had some success in clamping the Kidarooz trailer to the angled bar above the disc brakes but it sometimes slides down into the brake and I have limited my ability to turn sharply to the right as the bar starts to hit the quick release skewer on my rear wheel.
Riding my new Davinci Melbourne across the Burrard Street bridge early this morning in the dark I switched gears. I could feel the chain slip and gave it another revolution before thinking maybe the chain came off. I did what I normally do. Move the front derailleur in and keep pedalling and hopefully the chain would catch and I could keep going. Looking down I couldn’t see anything in the dark. Three more revolutions and then resistance. *Crap*
I’ve had a couple of SD cards fail on me and have gotten tired of creating little plastic coasters for my shot glasses. After sifting through all the crap on the net about “SD Card Failure”, “SD Card Not Found”, “Recover SD Card”, I finally found some good info on re-formatting a dead SD card. (more…)
Over the holidays I have stated to play more and more poker with my little nieces and nephews. They have been playing for years and know all the strategies and statistics. So they usually take all my money. In my search for some pocker tips I’ve found these videos that I thought were cool.
I will probably still lose all my money to them, but maybe I’ll be able to impress them with a few parlour tricks in our next game.
This video shows how to flip poker chips from one hand to the other.
This next video is a bit simpler, but almost as cool. This poker chip trick shows you how to shuffle the chips with one hand. (more…)
